Development Committee Charge 

The charge of the WLA Development committee is to provide leadership, guidance, and oversight for the school's fundraising, resource partnerships, and community engagement efforts. It focuses on long-term viability and building relationships rather than day-to-day operations. 

Key responsibilities typically include:

• Policy and Planning: Developing, reviewing, and recommending the school's fundraising philosophy, policies, and procedures to the board for approval. This includes ensuring all fundraising efforts align with the school's mission and strategic plan.
• Donor and Community Engagement: Participating in the full donor cycle, which includes identifying, cultivating, engaging, soliciting, recognizing, and stewarding donors and prospects. It is also charged with fostering a positive image of the organization within the community and encouraging community partnerships.
• Board Involvement: Educating and involving board members  in development activities and ensuring their participation in the school's philanthropic goals, often by setting benchmarks for giving and engagement. 

Ultimately, the committee conducts the detailed work and prepares recommendations for the full board, which holds the final responsibility for ensuring the school's long-term financial health and community relationship
